Free 2: Vettel the fastest

After the great session of McLaren In the morning, the drivers set off again for a second 90-minute session. Like a few hours earlier, Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber) quickly stood out and claimed the best time (1:24:324). Nico Hulkenberg (Williams) precedes it (1?21??606 then 1?19??746).

McLaren, again, comes to host the session. Lewis Hamilton climbs to the top of the timesheet, in 1?18??659 then 1?18??421. But he quickly found himself third following the good times achieved by Robert Kubica (Renault, 1?18??288) and especially Jenson Button (McLaren, 1?17??522).

More surprisingly, the Mercedes are also at the party and Nico Rosberg proves it by setting the best time, in 1:17:277. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull, 1?17??329) approaches but Nico Rosberg confirms his time (1?17??151). A few seconds later, Sebastian Vettel narrowly failed again (1?17??194). But he got closer and, in the following lap, took the best time from his compatriot (1:17??141). The vice-World Champion even drives home the point a little later (1?16??877).

But Sebastian Vettel is not the only one under 1?17?? for long. and he is quickly joined, second surprise, by Fernando Alonso (Ferrari, 1?16??963). If the Team knew that his mopnoplace would be more effective in Montreal, the F10 had greatly disappointed in Istanbul by posting a modest pace in the race.

In the last minutes of the session, the Top 3 does not change: Vettel, Alonso, Rosberg. On the other hand, certain drivers stand out. This is the case of Mark Webber (Red Bull), fourth in 1:17:273, while Adrian Sutil (Force India) surprises in sixth place, in 1:17:415.

But, as traditionally, it is only on Saturday that we will know the real level of performance of the cars. Red Bull ? Ferrari? Mercedes? McLaren? These four candidates for the first places showed great qualities this Friday. See you on Saturday to find out the best of the four.
