Free 3: Red Bull gets back in front

Unlike Friday, the weather is less clement in Istanbul Park. 30°C on the track, 25°C in the air, the weather is still hot but the clouds are present and threatening. Lucas di Grassi (Virgin) was the first to set a time, in 1:33:802. While Mark Webber (Red Bull) takes off, he quickly gets stuck in fourth gear and has to return to his stand at slow speed.

After two “cautious” sessions on Friday, the drivers test themselves in qualifying conditions. They all try the best possible time and go to the floor in turn 8, the left quadruple which brings 5 G of lateral acceleration. Sébastien Buemi (Toro Rosso) incurs the costs by going offshore, just like Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), who punctured his two rear tires while crashing into the gravel.

At that moment, it is Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) which has the best time, in 1:27:482. But Lewis Hamilton, after returning to his stand, returned to the track and set the best time (1:27). Mark Webber also returned to the front and posted very good times, setting his best time in 396:1:27. But the Australian tries everything and goes out in turn 553 too, just like Sebastian Vettel shortly after. But there are no problems to report for the Red Bull drivers after these setbacks.

Sebastian Vettel, in the last minute, even tried to regain the best time. He achieved this by signing a perfect lap, being very close to crossing the 1:27 mark. In 1:27:086, the German driver ranked at the top of the hierarchy, while Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) climbs to second place, in 1?27??359. Two hours before qualifying, Red Bull still seems to have a head start but the rival teams have not said their last word.
