There are only 6 Grands Prix left to save their season. Alpha Tauri is experiencing a rather complicated year in 2022, going against the trend of the progress shown during the last campaigns. Currently in 8th place in the constructors' championship, the Italian team is far from its ambitions at the start of the season. After a long drought of 5 Grands Prix without a point scored before the summer break, the Faenza team returned to the top 10 at Spa then at Monza thanks to Pierre Gasly. With 6 units scored in the last 3 races, AlphaTauri returned to a small point of Haas, which occupies 7th place in the championship.

The Normandy driver detailed the roadmap for his team at the end of the season. “We are one point behind seventh in the constructors' standings, so our aim for the last six races of the year has to be to move up as much as possible, and that is looking very close., fears Pierre Gasly, who however aims even higher. It's not impossible for us to catch up Alfa Romeo for sixth place, but it could be complicated and depend on a very good end to the season. We have to look to score points with both cars as often as possible, even if it's not easy. »

Continue the good dynamic for Gasly

Pierre Gasly, team leader despite rumors of departure Alpine, sets high goals for AlphaTauri. 6th place among manufacturers, owned by Alfa Romeo before the Singapore Grand Prix, is 19 points behind the Italian team. The end of season tour, outside Europe, could reshuffle the cards on circuits not used by the Formula 1 since 3 years. “It doesn't change our approach to every race weekend, which is to try to get the most out of the car and do everything as well as possible as a team., declared the Frenchman. We are arriving in the last part of the season, outside of Europe. These are very different circuits that we don't know as well as those closer to home. We haven't raced in Japan and Singapore for a few years. Therefore, anything can happen. »

Having entered the points in two of the last three races, Pierre Gasly would like to “continue this more positive trend which started at Spa. » The Norman will return to a Marina Bay circuit that he appreciates despite the physical challenge it represents. “I finished in the points the last time we raced there in 2019. It’s a very technical circuit, with a lot of turns, a lot of pace and very winding,” explains the French driver. It's a complicated street circuit: you can't make any mistakes at all, it's a challenge in terms of concentration. We should also have an aero evolution for this race, so we will see what that brings in terms of performance. »
