Loeb positions himself for the post-Bourdais era

Sébastien Loeb, five-time world champion rally has, for a long time, been attracted by Formula 1. Like any self-respecting high-level athlete, the Alsatian needs new challenges and the one that is emerging at Toro Rosso is of size. And, according to our information, Sébastien Loeb is indeed ready to take over from his compatriot. After Toro Rosso's decision to do without the services of Manceau, who has held a seat within the Italian team for 18 months, this declaration could cause a stir at the Nürburgring. The successor of Bourdais not yet known, Sébastien Loeb shows that Formula 1 is still part of his projects, he who has already passed tests at the wheel of a Red Bull. However, Citroën Racing will not let its champion disperse so easily, with Olivier Quesnel ruling out Loeb joining the F1 paddocks before the championship WRC is finished.

Sébastien Loeb's bad run in rallying does not argue, unfortunately for the Frenchman, in favor of a departure for the Formula 1 field. Indeed, with Mikko Hirvonen now leader of the WRC championship, Sébastien Loeb will have to fight until end of the season to retain his world crown. However, the Alsatian's entourage confirms that discussions have been underway for several months for the world champion to join the single-seaters of the Red Bull group, Loeb's sponsor at Citroën. Next to Jaime Alguersuari, Sébastien Loeb was indeed the number one choice to join the Red Bull/Toro Rosso structure. But, at Citroën, it is impossible for Sébastien Loeb to diversify before the end of the season. The only option remaining for the Frenchman is to compete in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the only F1 round to take place at the end of the WRC season.
