Lom: “The departure looks complicated”

Red Bull, who has “only” five victories this season despite ten poles, has learned not to rejoice before the race. Despite another double in qualifying and a huge margin over the other teams, victory is not yet in everyone's minds. More than anywhere else, the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix will be crucial and Red Bull does not want to miss out.

« It is true that this qualification is a great performance, tells us Fabrice Lom, in charge of engine operation Renault for Red Bull Racing. We can clearly admit that mid-season has passed, that we are the performers of the year on Saturdays. Unfortunately, it is on Sunday that we have to go for the points and, there, we are really not good. So there is no euphoria. We will try to have a good race without doing anything stupid. »

In addition, the characteristics of the RB6 and the position of Mark Webber on the grid make the Milton Keynes team even more concerned. “ We are very afraid for the start of Mark Webber because the right side of the track is very penalizing. The start looks complicated because the Red Bulls do not have excellent top speed but, conversely, a lot of aerodynamic downforce. We also don't have an F-duct, which will be a disadvantage against our competitors, especially since the distance between pole position and the first corner is the longest of the year. »
