Optimism is the order of the day at Sauber

After a chaotic 2009-2010 off-season, the Sauber team had an eventful start to the year in Grands Prix. The C29s are not up to par, and there is a lack of partners. As expected, James Key arrives mid-season. And the miracle happens. Immediately, the effects of the arrival of the former Technical Director of Force India were felt.

“James Key has achieved great things in a short time, underlines Peter Sauber in the columns of the sports section of the automobile magazine newspaper. He and his team quickly identified the weaknesses of the C29 and put together an action plan to remedy them which proved positive. After bringing home just one point in the first eight Grands Prix, we scored 36 in the next eight. »

The C30 will be the first car Sauber designed by James Key. Enough to give confidence to Peter Sauber, who will count on a pair of young drivers.

“We are setting the bar high, and things are looking good, He continues. James Key has proven in the past that he is capable of designing fast cars. In 2001 we had one of our best seasons with a rookie? Kimi Raïkkönen – and a driver in only his second season, Nick Heidfeld. Technically speaking, Kamui made great progress in 2010 and I have no doubt of his ability to develop further, under his new responsibilities as leader. As for Sergio, his talent is obvious. For him it will be a matter of learning quickly, relying on Kamui. »

GP2 vice-champion, the Mexican Sergio Perez is a product of the Telmex sector, which will affix its logo to the C30.

With Kobayashi, 24 years old, and Perez, 21 years old, the Swiss wizard is banking on youth. Will it pay off? Considering the second half of the 2010 season, seeing Sauber compete with Force India in 2011 would not be surprising in any case.
