Lotterer comfortable learning at Caterham

André Lotterer can be satisfied with his first day of testing with Caterham where he replaces for the Belgian Grand Prix weekend Kamui Kobayashi on the CT05. The three-time winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans had everything to learn after leaving the F1 about ten years ago when he was a test pilot. Nevertheless, things went well as the German was able to complete 48 laps of the Belgian Ardennes circuit and even beat his teammate Marcus Ericsson in the first session.

“I am very happy with my day”, commented André Lotterer. “The first session was good. I was able to quickly get used to the car and now I just have to optimize everything in terms of driving. Considering it was my first outing, everything went as planned and I was able to get a good preview of the result. The second session was just as enjoyable although I had to stop a little early due to a technical problem. The switch to soft tires was a new discovery for me, I came out of the pits not knowing what to expect, but I think it went very well. We were able to follow the program by progressing and playing carefully with the car. We've done some long stints and I'm starting to feel comfortable with everything even if I'm still in the learning phase. »

The final practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix will be contested tomorrow from 11 a.m. Photos of the tests can be viewed on this link.
