Lotus-Renault GP must shine at home

Eric Boullier knows that his team must get back on track if they want to maintain the advantage over Mercedes GP. The last race at the European GP did not favor the black and gold single-seaters, where Nick Heidfeld finished tenth while his teammate Vitaly Petrov could not do better than 15th place.

Eric Boullier wants to change the situation at Silverstone where his team will race at home. “As an English company, as a team of F1 English, I believe it is important to do well at home because the local attention is more focused on us », comments the Lotus director Renault GP. “It's also a tough fight because most of the teams on the grid are English, which gives even more motivation. »

The Frenchman hopes that the Silverstone track will be more favorable to the R31s. “The Silverstone track is superb and has offered many overtaking opportunities in the past. So the race promises to be spectacular. Of course, we are looking forward to discovering the new complex which should ensure even greater success for the event. Based on our performances in the Monaco and Valencia races, it seems to us that the fast curves of Silverstone will suit our car much better. »
