Lowe: Mercedes must improve on reliability

The Mercedes de Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg outrageously dominated the 2014 season of F1, only getting beaten three times by Red Bull de Daniel Ricciardo. The W05s were by far the most efficient single-seaters in the field, helped by a cutting-edge 6l turbo/hybrid V1.6. However, the Brackley team experienced several mechanical failures as was again the case in Abu Dhabi with the German's car.

Paddy Lowe therefore concentrates on improve reliability star-studded single-seaters. “I decided to improve our quality control 12 months ago, but it’s not a process that happens overnight”, said the technical director of Mercedes F1 in Auto Motor und Sport. “We didn't have time to make all the changes that needed to be made because our priority objective was to make the car more efficient. We can focus on reliability once we have achieved that. »

The Mercedes engineer draws on examples seen among competitors. « Ferrari reached a milestone during the era Schumacher and they remained at a new very high", underlined Paddy Lowe to our German colleagues.
