Lowe remains at odds with Horner

Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, does not deviate from its line of conduct. The boss of the quadruple world champion team still wants change at the level of engine regulations. Return to V8s, simplification of V6s, double turbo, the Briton put forward several ideas, in particular with the objective of reducing costs. A position facing which Paddy lowe, Executive Director of Mercedes, gets up.

“This is a clear example we are seeing, with someone feeling they are no longer above the fray at the moment, therefore the rules are wrong, indicates Lowe, quoted by journalist Adam Cooper. I've worked on teams that have had good and bad years, I don't remember anyone ever saying, "We should change the rules so I can win again." " I don't understand. We have clear rules, everything has been established with everyone's agreement. When people ask for short-term changes, it is only about self-interest. »

Lowe also believes that a new modification or thawing of the rules would only lead to an increase in costs. “This completely contradicts all other discussions in F1 which are focused on being profitable and maintaining a platform in which teams can compete whether they are at one end of the grid, or the other. It's a simple fact in F1, rule changes cost money, especially those involving the engine, so this is just the most ridiculous idea I've ever heard for how to cut costs by F1. »
