Nico Rosberg must have feared a mechanical failure preventing him from qualifying during Q3 of the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. The pilot Mercedes had to return to the pits during his first flying lap after encountering a “electronic problem” according to his team while he was ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton in the first sectors.
“He actually had several problems that occurred at the end of his turn, explained Paddy Lowe, Mercedes technical director F1, on Sky Sports. He lost synchronization in all gears and this resulted in an alert regarding his accelerator pedal. It wasn't actually the fault, but it must have worried him because no one likes to lose control of their gas pedal. »
“He had to cancel his lap, which is very disturbing in Q3. We were surprised that he managed to come out and win pole with all this stress”, added Paddy Lowe.
