Lowe: Stroll faces enormous pressure

At the end of the first five Grands Prix of the season, Lance stroll still hasn't won a single point. After abandoning the first three races, the driver Williams failed at the points gate in Sochi (Russia) and only took 16th place in Barcelona (Spain), the Canadian having had difficulty with his tires.

Paddy Lowe, Williams' technical director, returned to the reasons which complicate Lance Stroll's situation.

“One of the hardest things for Lance is having enormous pressure, explained the former engineer of Mercedes, Quoted by Reuters. He is a driver from whom there are a lot of expectations, not only with those close to him but even more so in the paddock. This is partly because there was a lot of talk about him questioning whether he deserved his place. »

“Drivers are by nature very competitive, underlined Paddy Lowe. They are the best and worst at getting violent if they are unhappy with their performance. This inevitably creates pressure and there are no easy answers for how to manage it. His position is in any case interesting, he simply must learn to take advantage of it. »

Lance Stroll is still winning his first points in F1 while his teammate Felipe Massa already has 18 units. The Canadian had dominated the peloton in the F3 European Championship last year with Prema Powerteam.
