Luiz Razia 'very proud' to make Marussia debut

Luiz Razia finally comes to be made official at Marussia, replacing Timo Glock, fired two weeks ago while still under contract. Now a starter for the Russian team based in Great Britain, the Brazilian driver will be able to make his debut in the premier category with a team he already knows, since he was a reserve driver for them at the start of the year 2010, when the group still bore the name Virgin.

“It’s fantastic to be back with Marussia F1 Team and with practically the same group of people that I worked with in 2010 when I was the reserve driver”, estimates Luiz Razia. “ I know that the team rewards the determination and success of its young drivers, with its program it aims to be a school for the next generation of racing drivers. I am very proud to arrive in Formula 1, and particularly with the team with which I started this journey, the team which showed me what it took to reach the highest level. »

“The last two seasons in GP2 have allowed me to show that I have what it takes and that I am ready,” continues the new recruit. “This season I will have to prove myself worthy of the trust that the team has just shown me. I can't wait to be in Melbourne for the first race of the year (March 17, editor’s note) and I’m excited to race alongside Max Chilton, who I ‘battled’ with last season. This is an important year for Marussia F1 Team who will have to maintain their efforts after a very positive year in 2012. I look forward to making my contribution”, finishes the Brazilian. Barely announced, Luiz Razia took part in his first day of testing in Jerez, at the wheel of the new Marussia MR02.
