Third in the championship F3 This season, Browning replaces his academy counterpart Williams, Zak O'Sullivan, at ART Grand Prix in Formula 2 for the end of the season. The Briton will also have the opportunity to discover the driving of a Formula 1 during FP1 of the final round of the season, before taking the wheel of the Williams FW46 again on the Tuesday following the last chequered flag of the year, for the young drivers' tests, where he will share the garage with Carlos Sainz, who will join Grove's team for the 2025 season.
“It’s an honour to drive a Williams F1 car for the first time in Abu Dhabi”, Browning explained. “To have the chance to take part in not only the Young Drivers Test but also the Free Practice is incredibly special. A big thank you to the entire Williams Racing team for supporting my development through the Williams Racing Driver Academy and for entrusting me with the FW46. I will work hard to prepare and make the most of this opportunity.”
The 22-year-old driver has a good chance of continuing his apprenticeship in F2 next season, although that could be with Hitech, the team with which he finished third in Formula 3 this year. ART Grand Prix has indeed offered him O'Sullivan's seat until the end of the season for the moment. That is normally Alexander albon who should leave his seat to Luke Browning for Free Practice 1 of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Indeed, the regulations require teams to replace each of their drivers once during the season, and Franco Colapinto had already fulfilled this quota by replacing Logan sargeant during EL1 at Silverstone.
