Magnussen was a good candidate for Haas

Future arrival in the World Championship F1 from 2016, Haas F1 Team has already made official the two drivers who will defend its colors from the Australian Grand Prix next March.

After Romain Grosjean, confirmed at the end of September, Gene Haas took advantage of the return of the discipline to Mexico last week to announce the recruitment of Esteban Gutiérrez as second pilot.

The boss of the American team, however, revealed on the official F1 website that he had another possibility regarding his first driver. “We discussed with Kevin Magnussen, who was a very good candidate. He was respected by the team McLaren. In fact, if Romain had declined our offer, we would have taken Magnussen as first driver. »

Enough to undoubtedly give regret to the Dane, barred by the extension of Jenson Button at McLaren, and still looking for a steering wheel for 2016. Magnussen will also perform a test session with Porsche on the 919 Hybrid engaged in WEC in the next days.
