Emotions were strong in the clan Haas and in the heart of Kevin Magnussen. Back in F1 after a year of hiatus to replace the Russian Nikita mazepin, entangled in sanctions linked to the war in Ukraine, the Dane registered the 10 points from fifth place, enough to place the American team in third position in the Manufacturers' championship after the Bahrain Grand Prix!

“If you think about the last two years (2020 and 2021, 9th and 10th with three points scored. Editor’s note) and you come back like this, you can't write a story like this in my opinion, said Haas Team Principal Günther Steiner. Our guys had some tough times but they kept their heads down, learned, and the pit stops in the race were efficient, everything was fine.

They used last year to prepare a better car. They can all be very proud. I am very proud of them. » While he had to defend the interests of Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), Kevin Magnussen was also over the moon. He signs his best result in F1 since the Austrian Grand Prix in 2018.

“The madness continues!” We had a really good race, the car was good all the way – we had a bit more tire degradation than we had hoped on the first set. I also overtook a few riders who were faster than me, so I wasn't sure if I should try to keep them behind or let them slip away, and I also locked the wheels a bit when braking.

This first stint may not have been perfect, but from there, even though we pitted earlier than planned, we extended this second stint to get back to the original plan. I was a little lucky with the abandonment of Red Bull, but we weren't going to deprive ourselves of it! »
