Magnussen: the pilots will quickly regain their bearings

The coronavirus pandemic blocked the launch of the 2020 season. While a resumption is estimated at the beginning of July in Europe, the drivers will not have driven competitively since the Abu Dhabi GP contested last December at Yas Marina.

If some drivers such as Daniel Ricciardo fears a form of “chaos upon recovery”, others are more optimistic. This is particularly the case of Kevin Magnussen recently interviewed by Sky Sports.

“It wouldn't scare me, it would be rather exciting in a way, confided the Haas resident F1 team. We've been away from the racetrack for a while, but I know we haven't forgotten. We're a little rusty, but not that much. »

Kevin Magnussen has already experienced a period away from F1 between his time from McLaren à Renault and between 2014 2016.

“I had a full season without racing in 2015, recalled the 27-year-old Dane. I only had two days of testing, one in DTM (With Mercedes) and one on an LMP1 (with Porsche), but nothing in F1. It didn't take me many laps to get my bearings when I got back into an F1 car for winter testing in 2016. It felt like I'd only been on the sidelines during the winter break. We quickly find the sensations and it's the same for everyone. »

Kevin Magnussen has been defending the colors of Haas F1 Team for four seasons alongside Romain Grosjean.
