Magnussen expects tougher race at Sepang

Kevin Magnussen created a surprise by getting on the podium of the Australian Grand Prix which was none other than his first race in F1, before winning second place on the green carpet following the exclusion of Daniel Ricciardo (provisional result with Red Bull appeal). The Dane had the added bonus of being ahead of his teammate Jenson Button who is the veteran of the grid. “We couldn't breathe after our encouraging result in Australia. We went straight back to prepare for Malaysia”, comments the rookie. “The engineers were subjected to the same regime. We proved in Australia that we are capable of scoring big points if our car is reliable. To achieve this, we must ensure that we evolve as quickly, if not faster, than our main adversaries. »

Kevin Magnussen's lack of experience could have an impact on the Sepang circuit where concentration is disrupted by the difficult conditions that the weather often brings in Malaysia at this time of year. “Sepang is a very different track to Albert Park: Melbourne is a collection of slow corners and mechanical balance, while Malaysia offers a real speed track, with much faster corners which will emphasize performance aerodynamic. It will be a tougher test than in Australia: the ambient temperatures complicate the drivers' task as well as the track temperatures which make the tires suffer. My goal is to score more points because consistency will be very important for the Championship. I also want to continue learning, especially in such a different environment. »
