Magnussen: “A common hope”

Kevin Magnussen found a smile again. After a season as a starter in 2014 within the team of Woking, the former Formula champion Renault 3.5 had been chomping at the bit last year for the position of third driver following the recruitment of Fernando Alonso.

The extension of Jenson Button's contract had closed the door to him for a starting place this year, but the hasty departure of Pastor Maldonado from Lotus / Renault gave him an opportunity that he did not dare imagine.

“It was a real surprise. Nothing suggested that the Renault team was going to need a driver, the Dane told AUTOhebdo. (In 2015) I got bored! I wasn't running, I wasn't doing anything...I was frustrated. Now, looking back, this 2015 season makes my arrival here even sweeter. »

Magnussen recognizes the chance given by the Losange to remember the good memories of the peloton F1. “It’s a new opportunity offered to everyone and not just to me… There is a common hope, there is a force. »
