Malaysia: favorite drivers at the Grand Prix?

With the future of the Malaysian Grand Prix in doubt, Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin suggested to the news agency Bernama that it would be more useful to support local drivers such as Jazeman Jaafar, Nabil Jeffri and Akash Nandy rather than financing the race held each year at Sepang.

“They have the potential, but none of them is supported by a partner while the government spends significant sums on a race which no longer offers returns on investment, whether on a sporting or economic level. »

“We had a pilot from F1 (Alex Yoong), but he never made it to the podium. With no competitors in the sport, we also don't have many opportunities for mechanics or other personnel to join an F1 team.", said Khairy Jamaluddin.

Malaysia has hosted F1 at the Kuala Lumpur circuit since 1999. The Kuala Lumpur circuit is on the calendar for the 2017 season.
