Maldonado has fond memories of Spa

Pastor Maldonado seems eager to return to competition on August 23 at Spa-Francorchamps after missing out on points in the last two events at Silverstone (July 5) and the Hungaroring (July 26). Like his teammate Romain Grosjean, the Venezuelan believes that the next meetings will be favorable to the Lotus E23 Hybrid.

“Some circuits should suit us, that’s a good point”, commented Pastor Maldonado. “We should be competitive at Spa and Monza and good results would be a perfect way to restart the season before heading to other events where anything is possible. »

Pastor Maldonado is all the more optimistic as he has good memories of the Belgian Ardennes circuit. “I drove there for the first time in 2004 in Formula Renault and I won in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2006 after taking pole and setting the fastest lap in the race. I then took victory in GP2 in 2008 and I repeated my performance in 2010.”

Pastor Maldonado only finished in the points once at the Belgian GP. It was in 2010 with Williams.
