Maldonado wants to get back on the wheel

Pastor Maldonado made a discreet return to the paddock of the F1 during the Monaco Grand Prix played last weekend. The Venezuelan recalled that he was still looking for a seat in the premier single-seater discipline after his replacement within the team.enstone by Kevin Magnussen when he lost the support of PDVSA, the oil group of his native country.

“We started researching a few weeks ago to try to come back next year.”, explained Pastor Maldonado on FoxSports.com. “I should have more support. The chances are quite high, let's take advantage of this to propose an interesting project to join a competitive team where I can constantly be in the points without knowing all the problems encountered in the past. »

“PDVSA is not the only oil company in Venezuela. It is clear that it is the most important, but we are currently in difficulty due to the global oil crisis and the particularly low price of gasoline. It seems that this is starting to rise again. It will be profitable for moon country”, said the former Lotus driver.

Pastor Maldonado kept a foot in F1 by taking part in Pirelli testing.

“I feel ready. I drove a lot for Pirelli with a modified GP2. I have been to Mugello (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain) trying different compounds. The next step is to transfer them to wider tires.”, explained the Venezuelan.

Pastor Maldonado remains aware that places in F1 are precious and that he may have to find another direction.

“This is my priority at the moment, but we will also consider a plan B even if nothing is clear at the moment. Maybe we will have a project in IndyCar, in LMP1 or in DTM. We’re pretty open at the moment.”he concluded.
