The 2024 season marked a significant milestone in Oscar Piastri's career. The Australian confirmed his potential by becoming a Grand Prix winner, but believes he still has room for improvement.

Despite progress, Piastri still has "a long way to go"

From the start of the season, Oscar piastri showed a notable improvement from his rookie year. He secured his first podium of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix, finishing second behind local hero Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). His first victory came at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he became the fifth Australian to win a race. Formula 1. Piastri continued his mid-season form by winning on the streets of Baku, making a superb pass on Charles Leclerc and then holding off the Monegasque's pressure. The Melbourne native was also in a position to win the previous round at Monza, but was caught out by Ferrari and Leclerc's one-stop strategy.

Despite these successes, Piastri identified areas for improvement, particularly in qualifying. I made life too difficult for myself this year, especially in qualifying, thus considers the interested party. Last year, in many races, I wouldn't have had the tools to come back, while this year I did. It's been a good improvement on a personal level, but there's still a long way to go. »

Although he helped win the first world title in McLaren Since 1998, Oscar Piastri has been aware that he has had an irregular season. Some races early in the season and some more recent ones didn't go as well as I would have liked, Piastri admits. I also think as a team there are certain races throughout the year that we would have liked to have executed better. Halfway through the year I was very happy with the level I was performing at and I showed some pretty clear improvements from last season. »
