Mallya: “Our pilots are under contract”

The rumored links between Sergio Pérez and Ferrari to take a possible place left vacant by Kimi Räikkönen next year was swept away in the space of a day this Friday in England. Firstly, Scuderia Ferrari confirmed the extension of the Finnish driver in the morning, on the other hand, Vijjay Mallya, boss of Force India, wanted to recall that his pilots Pérez and Hulkenberg were linked to his team.

« I can confirm that both are under contract for 2017, explains Mallya in the paddock, cited by Reuters. I'm really happy with Sergio and Nico. » The two drivers of the Silverstone-based team have regularly returned to the front in recent weeks, with Pérez also scoring two podiums in Monaco and Baku.

Mallya reappeared in the British paddock, he who remains at the center of extra-sporting affairs concerning the airline Kingfisher. Sponsor Sahara, via its founder Subrata Roy, has also been linked to legal cases.

“What happens to either Mr. Sahara or myself really has nothing to do with the team itself, its own stability and its own functioning and its future. There is absolutely no reason why I should sell my shares, or liquidate my stake in Formula One." Mallya clarified.
