Marchionne: “Liberty Media doesn’t understand anything”

For Sergio Marchionne, president of Ferrari, Liberty Media seeks too much to govern. The new owners of the F1 which succeeded CVC are currently working on the future regulation which will be put in place in 2021. However, the directions taken by the American media group do not please the Italian businessman who reiterated this week the threats of departure of the Team in order to support his remarks.

“They have to take care of the show, it’s up to us to take care of the rules, insisted Sergio Marchionne at the Geneva Motor Show (Switzerland). I don't see why we would go riding if we don't have this freedom. I think Liberty Media doesn't understand anything. They have to let us work. If we can't distinguish one competitor from another, we will do something else because I don't see what point that would be. »

Sergio Marchionne still showed openness by remaining optimistic for the coming years of the Championship with the new owners of F1.

“I am certain that we will manage to find common ground with Liberty Media which will allow us to still be present in F1 after 2020. I cannot imagine Grands Prix without Ferrari,” still recognized the Italian.

The latter also mentioned a possibility of seeing Ferrari again play for the overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the future regulations studied by the ACO and the FIA could offer LMP1s more similar to production cars. But these changes would not take place before the 2020-2021 season as we indicated to you in AUTO n°2150hebdo.
