Mark Webber didn't listen to Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel was in difficulty with his RB7, whose SREC was faulty. Mark Webber therefore came back on his teammate in the last laps and could try to improve his third position. The team then asked the Australian to stay behind the Championship leader, fearing according to Christian Horner a clash between the two drivers.

Mark Webber did not listen to the instructions and did not appreciate this request. “If Fernando (Alonso) gave up, we were fighting for victory », says Mark Webber. “I obviously ignored (the request from) the team. Seb (Vettel) was doing his best, just like me. I wasn't going to hurt anyone. »

The Australian specifies that he does not have the impression of having the role of second driver, even if the situation seems to prove the opposite. “I don?t really feel like I have this role,” adds the pilot Red Bull. “I just want to drive and keep racing until the end. They (the team) asked me to maintain my position with four or five laps to go. I wanted to bring home more points. »

Mark Webber would also have indicated that these facts could influence his decision to stay with the Red Bull.
