If Mark Webber also has the most competitive car in the field, he is also unable to beat Sebastian Vettel. The Australian will have a hand in starting in front of his teammate at the Abu Dhabi GP.

Can Mark Webber finally secure victory?

Mark Webber managed to beat his teammate Sebastian Vettel at the end of qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by being the only driver to go below 1'40 per lap this weekend. The Australian, however, seemed to be behind the quadruple world champion before taking the advantage in the very last lap of Q3. “This weekend is going pretty well so far. It is not the easiest test because of the temperatures which vary between the afternoon and the evening. I would say we had an easier start in Q1 and Q2, but we adjusted the car during the session by touching the front wing a little and I felt more and more comfortable. I knew I had to work on some areas where Sebastian had already done a good job while keeping my pace in the other sections where I was quite competitive. »

After losing his chances of victory by retiring due to an alternator problem in India, Mark Webber intends to achieve success this year before leaving for Endurance with Porsche. L’Australien ne s’est plus imposé depuis le GP de Grande-Bretagne 2012. “I am satisfied with this pole (the 13th of his career). I had a good lap even though this route hasn't always inspired me in the past. I'm looking forward to the race because I think we have a good car for racing in these conditions. However, I am not sure that I will impose myself. We showed that the single-seater was competitive during the last events. We have always been at the forefront, sometimes leading certain races and fighting for very good results. I also performed well in qualifying. I now want to enjoy this form. »
