Mark Webber wins in Hungary

Mark Webber is therefore the man of the first part of the season, while the Formula 1 takes leave at the end of this Hungarian Grand Prix. The Australian, in twelve races, won four. He now leads the championship and can go on vacation with peace of mind. He will return to his seat at the Belgian Grand Prix as championship leader and favorite in the title race.

However, in Budapest, it?s good Sebastian Vettel who was best placed to win this Sunday. Unlike the last two races, the German was able to take advantage of his pole position to come out in the lead at the first corner. He quickly took off, grabbing tenths of a second by the handful. Thus, in ten laps, he had already acquired a nine-second lead over Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Mark Webber (Red Bull) and Felipe Massa (Ferrari).

But debris on the circuit changed everything. The safety car entered the track and Sebastian Vettel took the opportunity to return to the pits, unlike Mark Webber. A double incident disrupted the race at the same time: Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) lost a rear wheel, went crazy and passed the stands of several teams before hitting a mechanic Williams ; and Robert Kubica (Renault), left his pit too quickly, hit Adrian Sutil (Force India), who was coming to change tires.

At the restart, Sebastian Vettel gave a little breathing room to Mark Webber, then leader since he had not pitted. A few laps later, the German paid the price, being penalized with a drive through. After carrying out this pit stop penalty, he came out in third position, behind Fernando Alonso, while Mark Webber continued the fast laps, still on soft tires.

After more than forty laps, he finally changed tires but came out in first position, having managed to open up a sufficient gap on his two chasers. The leading trio did not move until the finish. On the other hand, then at the points gate, Rubens Barrichello attempted an attack on Michael Schumacher. After a first failure, he recovered and took on the seven-time World Champion, who nevertheless tried to pin him down on the wall.

Mark Webber, with his fourth victory of the season, is therefore the new leader of the “Drivers” World Championship. It precedes Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso, who are still in the race to win the world crown. The end of the season will be fiercely contested.
