Mark Webber sets record at Jerez

La Red Bull-Renault RB6, which appeared last week in Jerez, showed itself car the fastest this Friday. In almost optimal conditions, on a dry track, Mark Webber even broke the ??record?? of the track, established last week by Lewis Hamilton (McLaren, 1?19??583). The Australian completed his fastest lap in 1:19:299 but any attempt to establish a hierarchy is still useless, the teams continuing their development work and certainly not displaying their full potential.

Although the night was rainy in Jerez, the start of the day allowed the circuit to dry out in order to provide a suitable playing field for the different drivers. Very quickly, the teams were able to equip their single-seaters with slick tires and begin a development program in mild conditions.

Numerous interruptions punctuated this day, since the red flag appeared six times. No major incident caused these interruptions, which were caused by the stopping of certain cars on the track. The last red flag, waved five minutes from the end of the session, caused by the stoppage of Nico Hulkenberg (Williams), closed this third consecutive day of testing.

Tomorrow Saturday, a fourth day of testing is on the program, for the eighth and final day of pre-season testing on the Jerez circuit, which will have offered little respite to the teams with frequent bad weather. Most of the drivers on track this Friday will remain behind the wheel of their cars on Saturday.
