Marko: “Ocon is a desperate driver”

Dr. Helmut Marko, advisor to Red Bull Racing, was not kind to Esteban Ocon at the end of the Brazilian GP. The Austrian suggests that the Force India driver would have voluntarily put Max Verstappen in difficulty to benefit Mercedes.

“He is a desperate driver who is desperate to get a Mercedes wheel in 2020. He is an idiot and this penalty is ridiculous”, said the Red Bull Racing advisor.

Toto wolff, the executive director of Mercedes Motorsport who is celebrating his team's 5th consecutive Manufacturers' title, did not get into Dr. Helmut Marko's game.

“Helmut sees everyone a certain way and I will settle for that as an answer”, declared the Austrian.

“I doubt this conspiracy theory, reacted Otmar Szafnauer, the director of Force India, on Sky Sports F1. The drivers are not thinking about their situation in 2020. Esteban asked on the radio if he could get back into the lap because he was faster and we told him yes. We had the advantage in terms of tires and that would have been the case for probably 5 or 6 laps. What Max does with his wheels…. We're racing against other people and we had to do this maneuver. »
