Martin Whitmarsh satisfied with testing

McLaren was almost invisible this morning but she stood out brilliantly this afternoon by taking the 1st and 3rd times in free practice. Jenson Button set the benchmark time in 1:26:456 while his teammate finished 0:577 behind the 2009 World Champion.

Martin Whitmarsh is satisfied with this dry session. “ With the cold and uncertain weather this weekend, we preferred to save the rain and intermediate tires for Saturday and Sunday », Explains the director of the British team. “ Fortunately the afternoon session was held in the dry and we were able to carry out the majority of our tests. »

The MP4-26 then showed itself to its advantage, even if certain problems still remain to be resolved. “ Lewis (Hamilton) and Jenson (Button) were happy with the balance of the car, although both reported that the shaking was very destabilizing entering turn 12 », Adds Martin Whitmarsh. “ It is too early to draw conclusions from the times achieved this afternoon but we are happy to have found a good basis for development for the set-up. »
