Marussia with Chilton and Haryanto at rookie tests

Following the partnership established between Marussia and the Carlin team which competes in the GP2 Series, the Russian team will enter Max Chilton and Rio Haryanto, the two drivers of the British team, during the rookie tests contested this week at Silverstone on the 12th and 13th. July. The Briton had already driven with Force India last year in Abu Dhabi while the Indonesian had a half-day of testing with Virgin Racing in 2010. Max Chilton will be at the wheel of the MR01 during the first morning on Thursday and Friday afternoon while his Indonesian teammate will take to the track on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. They will share the track with Valtteri Bottas who will ride with Williams as well as Ma Qing Hua who will drive the F112 for the HRT team.

John Booth, Marussia Team Principal F1 Team, is certain that the two drivers selected for these tests constitute a good choice for the team. The Briton currently occupies fourth place in the GP2 Championship while his teammate is in 15th position. “We are happy to offer another opportunity for Max and Rio to spend time behind the wheel of an F1 car to further prove their potential. We have been excited by their performances in GP2 this season, and while we are supporting Max for the first time this year, we have been following Rio's work since 2010 when he rode with us in GP3. We will have access to the data collected during the last Grand Prix and we will have the opportunity to adapt our program according to changes in track conditions. We will also integrate our GP3 engineers to allow them to learn and grow within our family. »
