Marussia F1 Team will aim for Q2 in 2014

The 13th place achieved by Jules Bianchi at the Malaysian Grand Prix was enough for Marussia F1 Team ends the season in tenth position in the Manufacturers' Championship ahead of its rival Caterham. The fight will have remained intense all year between the two teams at the back of the grid to collect the bonus which rewards a place in the top ten. However, the Russian team prefers to highlight the impact made on staff confidence. “It’s a great motivation for everyone.”, assured John Booth on Sky Sports Online. “It gives us confidence to move forward and it’s a real boost for next year. The difference (financially) is almost negligible, morale is the most important. The reaction from the team was incredible, it felt like we had won a great race and I'm sure it was the same at Banbury. »

The Marussia F1 Team Principal is now looking to take a step further next year by improving the performance of the single-seaters in qualifying in order to ultimately obtain the first top ten. The abandonment of the Cosworth V8 for the 6l turbo hybrid V1.6 Ferrari could be a great help. “The next goal is to get consistently into Q2, that’s what we want to do and that’s what we need to do. We are less than 1% of achieving this. The first step is to cross this 1% and start regularly in Q2. Then we can start thinking about points. »
