Marussia suffers in Budapest

Barely a quick installation lap this morning during the first free practice session in Hungary, and Max Chilton enters the pits in a plume of smoke. A fire broke out on the MR03 stopped in the pitlane, quickly brought under control by the marshals. Brought back to her box, the car of the Briton is examined and it quickly becomes clear that the gearbox must be replaced.  “Oil was leaking from Max's box and caught fire with the heat of the exhaust, explains Team Principal John Booth. While the damage caused by the fire was minimal, it soon became apparent that the box had been damaged and needed to be replaced. »

The Russian single-seaters were beaten by the Caterhams today, which does not satisfy Chilton. “We are not where we want. » adds Jules Bianchi’s teammate. The Frenchman, for his part, struggled with the balance of his car. “We found small adjustments in the afternoon, but it was not enough. » explains the Habs.
