Massa “formally opposed” to the new measures

The measures taken by the FIA (and inspired by Bernie Ecclestone) concerning the limitations of radio conversations continue to divide the paddock of the F1. One some are favorable to the initiative, others seem not giving it much importance. But the ban also has its detractors who question the usefulness of such changes in high season, pointing to possible problems linked to safety.

Felipe Massa has clearly positioned himself against this measure and fears that it will increase the risk of accidents. “There are so many things to do behind the wheel that if you don't do them, the rear brakes could get too hot from the battery and cause a fire. We could have a big box which is not caused by a driver but by a very complex Power Unit. We won't do two laps if we don't use the right settings. I am definitely against it. They could have done this more professionally, without just talking about it with the old pilots. They always think it's too simple for us without ever having driven these cars. If we can go back in time, put back the cars from those eras and we'll drive. It's not a problem. »

The pilot Williams did not stop there and even seems to challenge the commissioners who may indeed have certain difficulties in intercepting coded messages. “There are many codes that you don't know exist. No matter what one invents, a pilot could figure it out and make the change without anyone knowing. Maybe they'll penalize a car for something they heard but can't prove it's a code. It's not good. »
