There it's finished. Mattia Binotto is no longer the main director of Scuderia Ferrari. The Italian engineer, present at Maranello since 1995, had been promoted to Team Principal of the Italian team in 2019, replacing Maurizio Arrivabene. For several weeks, his place within the Scuderia had been threatened, at the end of a 2022 season where he was strongly criticized for his disorderly management of his team and its drivers.

Finally, this Tuesday morning, Ferrari announced that it had “accepted the resignation of Mattia Binotto, who will leave his role as team principal of Scuderia Ferrari on December 31, 2022.” At present, no replacement has been announced, with the Scuderia specifying that a new Team Principal will be revealed “during the new year”. There would therefore be no formalization before January 2023, even if the latest rumors in the corridors bring forward the arrival of Frédéric Vasseur, current director of the team. Alfa Romeo –Sauber.

Binotto: “I am leaving a company that I love, with the conviction of having done everything possible to achieve the objectives”

“With the regret that this implies, I have decided to conclude my collaboration with Ferrari, declared Mattia Binotto in the press release released by the Scuderia. I am leaving a company that I love, of which I have been part for 28 years, with the serenity that comes from the conviction of having done everything possible to achieve the objectives set. I am leaving a united and growing team. A strong team, ready, I am sure, to achieve the highest goals, to which I wish the best for the future. I think it's right to take this step at this time, as difficult as this decision was for me. I would like to thank everyone at Gestione Sportiva (Sports Management) who shared with me this journey, full of difficulties but also great satisfaction. »

Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, thanked the Italian engineer “for his many great contributions during his 28 years at Ferrari and in particular for returning the team to a competitive position during this past year. As a result, we are in a strong position to renew our challenge, especially to our incredible fans across the world, to win motorsport's ultimate prize. Everyone here at the Scuderia and the wider Ferrari community wishes Mattia every success for the future. »

Resigned after 28 years of good and loyal service, you have to dare, well, he is not going to go to the industrial tribunal either, he must not leave with empty pockets! A heartfelt thought for his replacement, if the Ferrari 2023 ever plays for the titles, it will be blamed on him even though there will be barely more responsible than me!!! In the meantime, the next season is being prepared hard at Ferrari (as in all the other teams) and there is no longer a driver on the plane.

What is this mess ? Impossible to have time to post a comment because of a 'regen' which cancels everything we are writing? I give up, I'm going to comment elsewhere!!

It has been written for some time that there is no smoke without fire! Good luck to whoever replaces him because this is an eminently political position and very exposed to popular "tifosi" vindictiveness...
