Why change a winning formula? This is how we could, with a touch of irony, summarize Mattia Binotto's thoughts when going on summer vacation. Except that the Team Ferrari no longer wins, or not enough in this 2022 season Formula 1.

The boss of the Reds was recently accused of mismanagement on the tactical side of his team, in particular by disfavoring Charles Leclerc at Silverstone then at the Hungaroring when he was the best performer on the track.

For what is his fourth season at the head of the legendary Italian team, Mattia Binotto gives a concise assessment of the first part of the year. “There is nothing to change, I think it has to do with confidence, learning, experience to gain and skills to hone” internally, he said from the F1 website.

“But if I look again at the results of the first half of the season, there is no reason for us to change (our working method. Editor’s note). I think we just need to understand (the sequence of events in Hungary. Editor’s note) and try to be competitive, as we have been in 12 races so far. There's no reason why we shouldn't be (competitive) during the return to school", scheduled for Spa-Francorchamps on August 28.

“We all win and lose together, concludes Mattia Binotto. Hungary wasn't a great race, but I think there was a lot of potential. I think we need to focus on the reason first (from the lack of speed in Hungary. Ed.), fix it and come back even stronger. »

With nine Grands Prix remaining, Red Bull has a 97-point lead in the Manufacturers' championship over Ferrari while among the Drivers, Charles Leclerc is 80 points behind Max Verstappen (Redbull).
