Max Chilton: “Formula 1 is plan A”

The history of the Marussia team F1 Team now seems to be coming to an end since the company CA Global Partners has published on its website details of the auction of the assets of the Banbury formation. An end of activity which sidelines the British driver Max Chilton, holder since 2013.

“I probably should have given myself a deadline”, indicates Chilton in an interview with Sky Sports. “I have already started looking and received a few offers in DTM and in LMP1. It's good to have them, but obviously I'm a Formula 1 driver and I want to make sure I'm there. So, that's plan A for now. »

Regarding plan B, I might well get started on it very quickly because obviously the seats will start to go away, so I don't want to shoot myself in both feet. »

The 23-year-old pilot also admitted that a position as a reserve pilot would not necessarily be his priority. “If a good team offers me a place as a reserve driver then maybe I could take it. But there are drivers for whom it suits and I believe that I am a racing driver and I would rather race in LMP1 or DTM than be a reserve. If this reserve role gives you an opportunity for a racing seat then I might take it, but I think at the moment my best bet remains Marussia. Otherwise, we will have to accept offers in LMP1 and DTM. »
