Max Verstappen makes history at Barcelona

What scenario for this fifth round of the World Championship F1 ! At the end of a finale undecided until the end, Max Verstappen bagged his first success in the discipline by imposing its Red Bull RB12 in front Both Ferrari SF16-H by Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel, thus becoming the youngest winner in the discipline. A victory which was evident from the first meters of the Catalan race.

Si Lewis Hamilton had made a decent start from pole position, the Briton from Mercedes finally lost at the first corner to his teammate, who had passed from the outside. But, returning in the wake of the German thanks to a better exit from turn 3, the World Champion tried to overtake the new leader who will defend his position.

Passing through the grass, Hamilton will lose control of his car and spin off, boarding with him in the gravel trap of turn no. 4 Nico Rosberg. Abandonment for both men, and explanation in the motorhome with the staff of the team Toto wolff in the minutes that followed. The incident has also been placed under investigation.

Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) then inherited control of the race ahead of the Toro Rosso de Carlos Sainz and the Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen. After a few attempts, the two SF16-Hs will get rid of the Toro Rosso and attack the two Red Bulls.

Thanks to different strategies, Vettel will manage to get the better of Ricciardo, but the fight for victory will pit Max Verstappen and Kimi Räikkönen against each other. Gradually, the Ferrari driver will close the gap with the Dutchman, but will never be able to attempt an attack on the young prodigy who crosses the line as the winner in front of the Finn.

Vettel completes the podium after resisting attacks from Ricciardo who will lose any chance of competing for the podium following a puncture in the final moments, but the Australian will manage to keep fourth place against the Williams de Valtteri Bottas.

After his good start to the race, Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso) finished sixth ahead of Sergio Pérez (Force India), Felipe Massa (Williams), Jenson Button (McLaren) and Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) who scored the points for tenth place for his return to the Faenza team.

Esteban Gutierrez (Haas) fails at the points gate, while his teammate Romain Grosjean was forced to abandon, as Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) and Fernando Alonso (McLaren). THE Renault RS16 from Palmer and Magnussen finish in 13th and 14th place.
