Dominant all weekend, Max Verstappen won the Styrian Grand Prix this afternoon. The Dutch driver was never really worried and widened the gap again in the championship on Lewis Hamilton. There is now an 18-point gap between the two title contenders. Even if the long relay simulations on Friday afternoon suggested a good pace for the Red Bull during the Grand Prix, Max Verstappen did not want to declare victory too quickly.

“You never know how a race might go, precise leader of the championship. For my part, I'm happy to have been able to manage my tires throughout the race. Mercedes stopped a lap before us, we just reacted to that so he wouldn't catch up with us. It worked well today. »

The paddock of the F1 will stay at the Red Bull Ring since next weekend there will be the Austrian Grand Prix. Today's performance risks giving the championship leader even more confidence.

“The race was good for us but we have to continue next weekend, relates Verstappen. We could have done a little better today so I'm looking forward to riding here again next week. We will continue to work and continue to attack and I am sure that we will see good work next weekend. »

Max Verstappen increases his lead to 18 points against Lewis Hamilton. In the constructors' championship, Red Bull is now 40 points ahead of Mercedes. A real gap is widening between the two teams.
