Max Verstappen explains his mistake

Feelings are inevitably mixed in the Red Bull clan this Saturday evening. If on the one hand, Daniel Ricciardo brought back the stable Milton Keynes on the first position of the starting grid after dominating qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was unable to confirm its encouraging tests in the Principality.

Main victim of the first part of qualifying, the Dutchman made a mistake at the Piscine chicane, first hitting the inside rail, which broke his right front suspension, before ending his racing in the rail outside.

“I felt very good in my first flying lap, much more confident than before, emphasizes Verstappen. In terms of balance, the car was better and my second sector was almost two to three tenths faster than I had already achieved.

Everything seemed to come together, at the chicane, maybe I underestimated the grip I had and I turned a little too early. Hopefully the weather will help a little tomorrow, but if you start 21st it will be very difficult anyway. These things unfortunately happen and you have to learn and move on. »
