In third position at the start of this Mexican Grand Prix, Max Verstappen benefited from the aspiration offered by the unfortunate Valtteri Bottas to take the leading position on the first lap, and never leave it again. Never worried by one Lewis Hamilton who failed to keep up with his pace, the Dutchman even thought he had won the point for the best lap, before it was taken by the Finn at the last moment. In the general classification, if the driver Red Bull is 19 points ahead of his rival, he wants to be cautious because “the season is still long”. “Of course, it looks like it's going well but it's still too early. I'm looking forward to Brazil because I have very good memories there (he won the last edition, in 2019 Editor’s note) ».

“It was a great three-way battle, analyzes the current championship leader about his departure. I tried to brake as late as possible, when I took the lead at the first corner it made my race easier because I was only focused on myself and what I was doing.” On the podium, he finds his teammate Sergio Perez, who long hoped to take second place from Lewis Hamilton in front of a wild crowd. “It’s incredible to have Sergio Perez with me on the podium, it’s great. The fans have always been amazing here.”
