Max Verstappen lets loose on the Halo

From its first glimpses during free testing sessions last year, the Halo garnered many negative comments. This cockpit protection system implemented this season preferred to other concepts such as the Aeroscreen or windscreen recently tested in IndyCar aims to protect the pilot's head against debris after several very serious incidents that have occurred in recent years in car. However, in addition to making the car heavier, the Halo offers a rather unsightly line.

Max Verstappen is not the most reserved when it comes to discussing the shape of the Halo already visible on certain single-seaters from the 2018 season after the presentations of Haas F1 Team et Williams Racing. The Dutchman is also concerned about the extra weight on his car.

“The Halo is very ugly, I'm not looking forward to riding it, said the Red Bull driver in a video published by the team Milton Keynes. The Halo being quite heavy, weighing more than 6kg, this will clearly not be an advantage for me. It's definitely not ideal to be taller and a bit heavier compared to most other riders. However, I am not going to change my training because I will not be in good shape later during the races. »

Max Verstappen is nevertheless focusing on the general performance of the future RB14 which will be revealed on Monday February 19.

“I just hope my car performs well. We should have a competitive car from the start of the year and we should no longer have to chase our competitors as was the case last year. This is the most important thing for us,” emphasized Max Verstappen.
