This is what we call undivided domination. In Imola, Max Verstappen had one of the best weekends of his career. Author of pole position on Friday, the reigning world champion then won his 2e victory this season in a race led from start to finish and with the best lap as a bonus. A service which allowed him to afford the 2e Grand Slam of his career after the one won in Austria in 2021. To this, the Batavian can add a success in the Sprint Race on Saturday to top it off.

« It's always difficult to achieve such a performance, underlined the pilot Red Bull before getting on the podium. Since Friday we have been working very hard to try to have a very strong weekend. With weather like today (Sunday), you never know how competitive you are going to be or not. In the end, everything went well. I think this double is well deserved."

On a wet track, Max Verstappen mastered his flight while his rival Charles Leclerc went backwards in 4e position surpassed in quick succession by Sergio Pérez and Lando Norris. Very comfortable with an RB18 slightly more efficient than Ferrari's F1-75, the Batavian then had no trouble coping with wet asphalt which did not trap him.

« The departure was very important, he points. We then had to monitor the track conditions to see when to switch to slicks and to avoid making any mistakes on the exit lap. When you're in the lead, it's up to you to dictate the pace and it's always more difficult but in the end everything went well."

On arrival, it’s his 2e Grand Slam that awaited him. And as if that wasn't enough, Max Verstappen saw Charles Leclerc finish 6e after leaving the track less than 10 laps from the checkerboard. Almost perfect weekend!
