After exploding (once again) into the open in 2016 for his first steps at Red Bull Racing, with immediate success in Spain, Max Verstappen concluded a contrasting first half of the season in Hungary.
Involved in a collision on the initial lap of the race with his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, the Dutch driver finished 5th in the race, in line with his results in 2017. Only one podium rewarded the former resident of the European Championship of F3 in China, and with five retirements, Verstappen remains the least successful of the drivers of the top teams Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.
“It’s been an interesting season so far, however admits Verstappen. Of course the dropouts are not positive, but in general I think we should be happy with the performances. Maybe we expected a little more, but it is what it is and you have to make the best of the situation. »
Hope in Red Bull's developments
Dominated by his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, winner in Azerbaijan and author of five consecutive podiums between Spain and Austria, Max Verstappen turns his attention to the second part of the season, where he clearly hopes to benefit from the expected developments at Red Bull Racing , and also looks towards 2018.
« We are always trying to improve. We hope the updates will push us forward. The aim is to be closer to the top places, to prepare things for next year and to challenge the leaders. »
