Max Verstappen wants to stay positive

In two weeks, the Dutchman Red Bull went from hero status with his victory in Spain, to retirement in the Principality, after making a mistake on the very tricky Monaco track on this rainy Sunday on the banks of the Mediterranean.

Accident in qualifying, after hitting the rail at the Piscine chicane, the son of Jos Verstappen started from the pit lane with a new chassis. In the rhythm as evidenced by his rise through the peloton, the former driver F3 could legitimately aim for the points, before being trapped at the Massenet corner.

“At the start of the race, the track was very slippery. This improved later as the track dried. From there we had a good pace and I was catching the cars in front of me, attacking through the pack and everything was going well. Then we put the tenders on and I locked the wheel at Massenet. Unfortunately, I went a little off course and passed through the wet area. I was a passenger from then on. »

Despite this first setback under the colors of Red Bull Racing, Verstappen nonetheless remains determined and wants to direct his attention to the next Canadian round next month.

“It's the race in the end, you can go from very high to very low very quickly, but you must not give up because of that, you must keep a positive mind, keep attacking, specifies the ex-pilot Toro Rosso. I learn a lot from these moments, and I am already focusing on Canada, leaving Monaco behind. »

A Montreal round where the Dutch driver should benefit from the new Power Unit Renault, embarked last weekend in the car de Daniel Ricciardo, and which seems to bring satisfaction to the Milton Keynes clan. So much so that Renault and Christian Horner's team, as well as Toro Rosso, will be equipped with the French V6 turbo/hybrid in 2017 and 2018.
