Mazepin concludes Barcelona tests on top
For his first laps with the Mercedes W10, Nikita mazepin delighted his employer. The 20-year-old Russian set the best time on the second day of testing in Barcelona (Spain), Wednesday May 15.

The Muscovite, resident of ART Grand Prix in Formula 2 (16th after six races) established a best time of 1’5”775 equipped with C5 tires, the softest compound provided by Pirelli in Catalonia. Nikita Mazepin thus came within 264 thousandths of Valtteri Bottas’ time (Mercedes), ratified on Tuesday.
Also equipped with C5 rubbers, Alexander albon (Toro Rosso) is in second place, almost a second and a half behind. The Thai caused a premature end to the session by guaranteeing his car at the edge of the slope at the end of the afternoon. The simulator pilot Ferrari Antonio Fuoco completes the top three (+1”509).

Red Bull focused on long stints using medium and hard tires with double winner of the Macau Grand Prix, Daniel Ticktum (10th at 3”6). McLaren occupies the bottom of the table because Sergio Sette Camara was struck by a mechanical problem at the start of the afternoon.
Now, the teams will have to wait until the end of the season in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of December to conduct new collective testing sessions.
