McLaren with ambition

Even if the results of free practice do not allow us to predict race performance, Mc Laren was able to take advantage of his day on Friday. The fastest in the morning, Nico Rosberg was the first to set the reference time for this session, before seeing Piquet, Kovalainen and Hamilton take turns in the lead. Williams confirms his good form during free practice with the relays of Nakajima and, again, Rosberg. But Mc Laren, also at ease this Friday on the Turkish track, is back in first position thanks to Kovalainen (1:28:841). Carried out after a half-hour session, this time will not be erased in the following hour. Behind the Finn, Alonso achieves some convincing times, as does Kubica, back after a difficult Monaco Grand Prix.

Among the hiccups, Hamilton stands out, spinning twice, without seriousness. And Button, who we see more in the lead, is struggling to set second-rate times. However, the pilots attack. Proof of this is with a second spin from Nakajima, pushed into error by a catchy Fisichella. In a final run, Barrichello tried to put Brawn GP back at the top of the list but Kovalainen's time resisted all these attacks. Even in Alonso?s final attempt, who failed six thousandths of the best time. Without being able to swear that its opponents were in good spirits, the English team can be reassured at the end of these three hours of free practice. And hope to continue the momentum on Saturday.
