McLaren Team Principal Eric Boullier has confirmed that Fernando Alonso suffered a brief memory loss following his crash at Barcelona testing.

McLaren confirms Alonso's temporary memory loss

Éric Boullier, director of McLaren-Honda, confirmed on Sky Sports F1 which Fernando Alonso had suffered from temporary memory loss following his accident during testing in Barcelona (Spain). The Frenchman responded to reports from Spanish daily El Pais that the two-time world champion had told doctors that he thought he was in 1995 when he was racing karts.

“It’s simply a normal concussion with a temporary memory door », reassured Éric Boullier. “It's not as dramatic as the press reports. Everything is back to normal. »

Fernando Alonso will still have to give up his place to Kevin Magnussen at the Australian Grand Prix next weekend in Melbourne. “He is very frustrated not to be present but he will follow all the debriefings by video”, added the McLaren-Honda Team Principal. « The 21-day recovery period must be respected when you have a concussion. The doctors gave their advice and a strong recommendation currently being followed. Medical tests will test his reflexes. They have already started and everything is normal. »

Fernando Alonso reassured about his physical condition by detailing yesterday his activities on Twitter.
