McLaren confirms Jost Capito's departure

Jost Capito's move from Volkswagen Motorsport to McLaren had been one of the main “transfers” of the year 2016. After having won everything on the scene of the WRC with the Polo R and the French Sébastien Ogier, Capito had confirmed his arrival in F1 in Woking at the beginning of 2016 before actually starting work last September.

But just over five months later, as noted a spokesperson quoted by Sky Sports, McLaren has confirmed the end of its collaboration with its general manager, whose arrival was made while Ron Dennis was still at the helm of Woking.

McLaren also announced the arrival of Zak Brown as executive director following the departure of Ron Dennis and the first rumors of a possible sidelining of Capito had emerged last December.

Internal changes within Woking continue, with the British team fielding the duo this year Fernando Alonso – Stoffel Vandoorne, replacing Jenson Button, on a car 2017 which will abandon the traditional MP4 name for MCL. An orange livery could also be adopted.
